Umega Chathuranga

Umega Chathuranga is an experienced and highly accomplished Sri Lankan left arm spin bowling all rounder who has excelled at home in first class cricket and abroad over many years as a UK club professional.

One glance at Umega's stats tells you all you need to know about the quality of the player, he has excellent control with the ball and is more than capable of good runs from the middle/lower order as has been proven over his previous UK stints. He also comes highly recommended from his previous clubs as an excellent all round club pro who is a keen, highly qualified and enthusiastic coach who will get fully involved with club life as a whole, both on and off the pitch.

He has been exceptional in previous UK visits with Little Hulton CC, Spring View CC, Marton CC, Horsley & Send CC, Edgworth CC, JG Meakins CC and Caldy CC. On his last trip in 2024 he was absolutely sensational, claiming 81 wickets at an average of 10.93 and scoring 696 runs at 34.80 for good measure, proof that there is plenty of life left in the highly experienced player. In previous stints, he led JG Meakins CC to promotion in 2023 and was brilliant for Edgworth CC, finishing as the leagues leading wicket taker in all three years there. Perhaps his most notable season was for Spring View CC in 2013 where he snared an incredible 91 wickets at an average of 9.86, along with 383 runs at 23.94.

Umega is not only a mighty fine professional, he is a top class human being who understands what being a club cricket professional is all about. He is an elite level coach (ICC Level 3, ECB Level 2, Cricket Australia Level 2) and is looking to add lots of value on and off the pitch to his new club. As far as a safe bet goes, Umega is as close to that as possible.
