Yohan Liyanage

Yohan Liyanage is an exciting batting all-rounder making waves in Sri Lankan domestic cricket with the prestigious Ragama Cricket Club. A powerful left-handed top-order batter and a genuine front-line off-spinner, Liyanage brings rare balance and versatility to any side he represents.

His journey in cricket began back in 2010 at the renowned Sanath Jayasuriya Cricket Foundation, laying the groundwork for what has since become a flourishing career. He honed his skills through the ranks at President's College Kotte and later at Thurston College Colombo, where he truly emerged as a schoolboy star. In his final two seasons of Under-19 Division One Inter-School cricket, Liyanage posted staggering all-round numbers—711 runs and 18 wickets in 2018/19, followed by 561 runs and a remarkable 50 wickets in 2019/20—firmly establishing himself as one of the standout young talents in the country.

In 2022, his rise continued as he broke into the professional ranks. After making his white-ball debut earlier in the year, Liyanage announced himself in the first-class format in September with a scintillating 106 from just 100 balls on debut against Police Sports Club—an innings that captured his fearless strokeplay and game-changing potential. Since then, he has accumulated over 30 appearances across all three domestic formats, consistently contributing with both bat and ball.

His talents haven’t gone unnoticed. In July 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket selected him for the Emerging Team’s tour of Japan, a nod to his growing reputation as one of the country's most promising young all-rounders.

Eager to build on his domestic success, Liyanage has also enjoyed two standout seasons in the UK. In 2024, he starred for Swindon in the West of England Premier League, racking up 1,084 runs at 51.62 and claiming 22 wickets. He followed that with another strong showing in 2025 for Hem Heath in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League, tallying 635 runs at 45.36 and taking 21 wickets at an impressive 19.62. He headed to Milford Hall in 2026 and had a surprisingly tough year with the bat in hand.

Now seeking fresh challenges and keen to get back to his blistering UK form of 2024/2025, Liyanage is looking to return to the UK in 2027. With his dynamic all-round skill set, proven performances at home and abroad, and hunger to keep developing, he’s a strong signing for any club seeking a batting all rounder and keen coach.

Yohan is now set to head to the UK once more after signing with Milford Hall Cricket Club for their Birmingham & District League campaign.
