Yohan Maddege is an accomplished leg-spinner and useful lower-middle order batter playing for Kandy Customs in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
Recommended by long-standing CricX star Imesh Udayanga, Maddege has been a late comer to professional cricket, only making List A debut in 2022, aged 26.
However, his late arrival to Sri Lanka’s domestic circuit was mainly due to his participation in Australian club cricket, where he excelled since the 2017/18 season.
Playing for various clubs in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association, most notably Baxter (alongside a short stint with VIC Premier club Frankston Peninsula), Maddege played 105 matches scoring 1,226 runs at 14.06 alongside 197 wickets at 15.27.
Looking for higher honours, Maddege returned to Sri Lanka and broke into the Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club for their 2022 SLC Major Clubs Limited Overs Tournament and impressed bagging 9 wickets at 26.55.
He was then picked up by current club, Kandy Customs in 2023, and he continued to shine taking 6 wickets at 17 and 13 wickets at 23.92 in the Major Clubs T20, and Major League Tournaments (FC), respectively.
The free-wheeling leg-spinner is now eager to follow in the footsteps of his many Sri Lankan friends and play UK club cricket in 2024. Maddege represents a proven performer, and is someone we’d strongly recommend.
