Josh Nicholas (24) is a seam bowling all-rounder who enjoyed a brilliant season in Western Australia's top flight grade competition (WACA) in 2014/15. The Perth quick finished third on the WACA wicket charts (behind Luis Reece and Ty Hopes) with 48 wickets at 17 with two 5-wicket hauls and a 10-wicket match haul against Mount Lawley (6-45 and 4-36).

Courtesy of his success, Nicholas was selected for the Western Warriors winter training camp and it's envisaged he'll feature for the WA Futures League (2nd XI) side in the upcoming 2015/16 season.

A prolific junior, Nicholas represented Western Australia at the Under-19 State Championships, skippered Trinity College 1st XI and made his Perth first grade debut in 2009/10. He starred for Perth in their One-Day Premiership, taking 3-18 (7) against Scarborough in the Grand Final. Nicholas picked up 51 wickets at 16.53 across the grades in 2009/10 and was awarded “Club Champion”.

In 2010, he spent a summer playing in England with success. He picked up 53 wickets at 14 in Division One of the Derbyshire County League for Eckington, alongside 459 runs at 24.16. He also turned out for the Surrey 2nd XI hitting scores of 26 and 22, plus figures of 2-66 against Durham.

A solid season playing first and second grade for Perth, which included a highest score of 91 in the later was followed by a barnstorming 2011/12 season taking 24 wickets at 18.50 including a best bowling of 6-28 in the first grade.

He averaged 21.67 and 25 with bat and ball respectively in first grade in 2012/13, but unfortunately a back injury hampered his progress. Nevertheless, Nicholas returned to full fitness and in 2013/14 took 26 wickets at 29.27, to include 16 at 34.94 in A Grade.

Nicholas then set sail back to the UK in 2014, returning to the Derbyshire League this time for Division 2 club Ambergate alongside Perth team-mate Jack McIver. He set the league alight, topping the division wicket charts (61 wickets at 12.36) whilst finishing 7th on the run charts (580 runs at 44.61). He returned, albeit briefly to Ambergate in 2015, before his selection and return to Perth for the Warriors winter training camp.

Fresh from his performances home and abroad over the past 24 months, Nicholas is now eager to return to Northern shores once more in 2016. Courtesy of his all-round exploits, no doubt Nicholas will be a sought after commodity for next season.
