We’re thrilled to unveil our CricX Team of the Year after an extraordinary season packed with runs and wickets galore!

Narrowing down our initial list of 40 standout players to just 11 was no easy feat—quite frankly, it felt near impossible. Some clients may be disappointed to miss out, but that’s no reflection on their stellar seasons. The bar for selection was sky-high, and with only 11 spots, tough choices had to be made.

As you’ll see from the players chosen below, most have shone in ECB Premier League cricket this summer. Selections were based on the level of competition, raw numbers, and those who topped league run and wicket charts or played pivotal roles in steering their teams to titles.

It was a challenging task, but the players below have undeniably earned their place in our TOTY. Huge congratulations to those who made the cut, and for those who just missed out—there’s always 2026 to shine!

The Batters

Garnett Tarr (Salesbury – North West Cricket League)

1,190 runs @ 56.67 (4x100s, 6x50s)

The South African Emerging Players’ batting dynamo set the North West Cricket League alight once more during his second spell with Salesbury. This summer, he smashed an incredible 1,190 runs across 24 League and Cup innings, cementing his status as a fan favourite. He notched four centuries, three of which came in the Senior Premiership, where he averaged a stellar 60.83 with a scorching strike rate of 129.91.

His season was packed with highlights, including back-to-back tons in May: an unbeaten 104 off 79 balls against Lostock in the League, followed by a blazing 116 off 82 balls against Egerton in the Cup. He saved his best for last, closing the campaign with a flourish—centuries in two of his final three matches, hammering 164 off 104 balls against Read and 100 off 88 balls against Lostock again.

Over his two seasons with Salesbury, he’s racked up 1,770 runs at 50.57, including 11 fifties, and shown his all-round value by picking up 32 wickets at 18.81 when not behind the stumps. What a star!

William O’Donnell (Totteridge Millhillians – Hertfordshire Premier League)

800 runs @ 61.54 (1×100, 7x50s) & 35 wickets at 16.74 (1x5w)

The Auckland Aces’ imposing opener lit up the Hertfordshire Premier League once again, piling up 800 runs at a stellar 61.54 for Totteridge Millhillians. He came agonizingly close to claiming the league’s top run-scorer title, finishing just three runs shy with 742 runs at 61.83. Not content with dominating with the bat, his crafty off-spin was equally lethal, landing him among the league’s top five wicket-takers with 31 scalps at 18.19.

This summer only added to his incredible legacy in English club cricket, where he’s now stacked up 6,811 runs at 53.21 and snagged 223 wickets at 21.79. His journey has seen him shine for Norwich (2016–18), Three Bridges (2021–22), and Totteridge Millhillians (2023–25)—a true all-round superstar!

Avishka Tharindu (Bracebridge Heath – Lincolnshire Premier League)

2,450 runs @74.24 (9x100s, 9x50s) & 21 wickets @ 29.90

Back for a second straight year, this Sri Lankan run-machine has cemented his spot in our Team of the Year with an even more jaw-dropping performance! Last season’s haul of 2,383 runs at 79.43, with 7 centuries, 13 fifties, and 39 wickets at 19.82 (including a five-wicket haul), seemed untouchable—but he’s somehow outdone himself.

Playing a ton of cricket, his Premier League numbers alone were unreal: 1,310 runs at an average of 77.06, smashing 6 centuries with a blistering strike rate of 121.41. No surprise, this former Sri Lankan Emerging Players star topped our run-scoring charts this summer. It’s no shock that Bracebridge wasted no time locking him in for a third season in 2026—what a player!

Gareth Severin (Harefield – Home Counties Premier Cricket League)

1,568 runs @ 68.17 (6x100s, 5x50s)

The Wellington Firebirds’ explosive batter was a UK club stand-out this summer. In the HCPCL, he smashed an impressive 693 runs at an average of 53.31, including two centuries, with a blazing strike rate of 98.58. His standout performances included a match-winning 102* off just 79 balls against Great Brickhill in May, carrying his bat to secure victory, and an explosive 111* from 65 balls in the T20 Cup against Gerrards Cross.

But his season’s highlight? A colossal 172 off 111 balls in the Bertie Joel Trophy against Māori Oxshott, hammering 18 fours and 9 sixes.

Since 2022, his club cricket stats are jaw-dropping: 4,661 runs at 47.08, with 11 centuries, 536 fours, and 122 sixes. This guy’s an absolute beast in UK club cricket—undeniable!

Yohan Mendis (Pudsey Congs – Bradford Premier League)

1,088 runs @ 64 (1×100, 8x50s)

The Sri Lankan sensation has been knocking on the door of our Team of the Week for years, and in 2025, he’s finally earned his spot with a string of stellar performances in the Bradford League. Shining in Division 1, he was the standout batting pro, smashing 863 runs at a jaw-dropping average of 86.30.

Even more incredible? From late May to mid-August, across 17 League and T20 League matches, he racked up 921 runs at a mind-blowing 115.13 average. His exploits were pivotal in powering Pudsey Congs to the League title and securing promotion to the Bradford Premier for 2026.

After four seasons with the club, this star has amassed 4,485 runs at 55.37, including 39 fifties and 5 centuries. A true, consistent game-changer!

Mohammed Shaikh (Brixham – Devon Cricket League)

808 runs @ 89.78 (4x100s, 3x50s) & 22 wickets @ 17.64

Talk about a dream debut! This Pakistani star absolutely lit up his first UK stint, and we can’t praise him enough. Sure, it wasn’t Premier cricket, but my goodness, did he make his mark! Across 16 matches, he smashed 808 runs at a staggering 89.78 average. In the league alone, he averaged an unreal 92.75, blasting four centuries.

Unlike many overseas players who take time to settle, this guy came out swinging, smashing 101 off 93 balls on debut. His red-hot form carried through to mid-July, with back-to-back unbeaten tons against Chudleigh (112*) and Ashburton (112), racking up 653 runs at a jaw-dropping average of 163.25 by that point. But he wasn’t just a batting phenom—he showed his all-round flair with the ball, mixing spin and seam to claim 22 wickets at 17.64, all while maintaining a stingy economy rate of 3.02 in the league.

What a sensational first season! No wonder Brixham wasted no time re-signing this Pakistani dynamo for 2026.

The All-Rounders

Lohan De Zoysa (Boldon – Durham & North East Cricket League)

1,548 runs @ 86 (2x100s, 13x50s) & 63 wickets @ 8.30

Boom! He was a strong contender for our 2025 Team of the Year, but this Sri Lankan superstar has absolutely smashed it to claim a spot in our 2026 edition.

After a stellar 2025 with Wembdon in the WEPL, where he piled up 1,608 runs at 59.56 and snagged 46 wickets at 14.07, his move north to Boldon turned the dial up even further. This time, he delivered a jaw-dropping 1,548 runs at an average of 86 and a ridiculous 63 wickets at 8.3—yes, you read that correctly! In the DNECL (Division 1) alone, Lohan was a force of nature, averaging 84.67 with the bat and an astonishing 7.57 with the ball. No surprise, then, that Boldon stormed to the League title!

In just two seasons of UK club cricket, Lohan has racked up an incredible 3,156 runs at 70.13 and 109 wickets at 10.73. What an absolute gem of a player! Boldon didn’t hesitate to lock him in for 2026, and who can blame them?

Manisankar Murasingh (Philadelphia – North East Premier League)

1,507 runs @ 57.96 (5x100s, 10x50s) & 51 wickets @ 15.14 (3x5w)

Honestly, what more can we say about the absolute legend Manisankar Murasingh? We’ve exhausted every superlative in the book! Last year, he stormed into our Team of the Year, topping the NEPL charts with a colossal 1,401 runs at 56.04 and 51 wickets at 14. But in 2025, he’s somehow raised the bar even higher—matching his stellar bowling returns while piling on even more runs.

Picking his standout moment this summer is no easy task, but two performances shine bright: a blistering 107 off just 63 balls in a T20 against Durham City in June, or perhaps his match-defining heroics against Sacriston, where he claimed 5-36 in 15 overs and smashed 68 off 55 balls to clinch a thrilling two-wicket victory. Either way, pure class!

The Indian all-rounder has cemented his reputation as one of the finest seam-bowling all-round professionals in the game. Over three seasons with Philadelphia, Murasingh has racked up an astonishing 3,455 runs at 52.12, with 13 centuries and 18 fifties, alongside 147 wickets at 13.28, including eight five-wicket hauls. What an unbelievable talent!

The Bowlers

KC Cariappa (Mildenhall – East Anglian Premier League)

367 runs @ 24.47 (2x50s) & 53 wickets @ 14.30 (2x5w)

The man, the myth, and what an absolute superstar! KC was a strong contender for our 2025 Team of the Year, but his jaw-dropping exploits in the EAPL have secured him a well-deserved spot in our 2026 edition. For the second year running, he’s topped the Premier League wicket charts, but this time his haul of 53 wickets at 14.30 in one of the toughest ECB Premier Leagues around is nothing short of phenomenal.

Dig into his numbers, and it’s clear why he was a lock for our TOTY. Not only did he lead the EAPL in wickets, but he was also the stingiest bowler (minimum 10 wickets), conceding a measly 3.16 runs per over and striking every 27.13 balls.

KC delivered a string of unforgettable performances, with two standing out: his jaw-dropping 8-21 in 12.3 overs to demolish a star-packed Great Witchingham side, and his sensational 7-30 in 14.1 overs to skittle Witham for just 107. But he’s not just a wizard with the ball—his batting is pure dynamite. KC topped the EAPL batting strike rates, blasting 367 runs at 24.47 with a scorching strike rate of 191.15, including a pair of blistering 70s off just 30 balls!

An undeniable star and an all-around great guy, KC was a must for our TOTY. We’re already counting down the days to see him back in action, as he’s set to return to Mildenhall for a third stint in 2026. What a player!

Mayank Mishra (Cleethorpes – Yorkshire Southern Premier League)

273 runs @ 22.75 (1×50) & 74 wickets @ 10.68 (5x5w)

This guy is simply on another level for UK club cricket! Earning a spot in our Team of the Year for the second consecutive year, he’s also steered Cleethorpes to back-to-back Yorkshire South Premier League titles. In 2025, he didn’t just dominate his league—he topped the entire ECB Premier League wicket charts with a staggering 72 wickets at 10.57, boasting an economy of 2.96 runs per over and a strike rate of 21.40. His haul included a handful of five-wicket hauls, with his 5-12 in 9 overs on the final day, bowling out Sheffield Collegiate for just 64, sealing the title for his side in style.

Since his debut season in 2021, this Uttarakhand left-arm spinner has been nothing short of the finest tweaker in UK club cricket. Representing Philadelphia (2021), Driffield Town (2022), and Cleethorpes (2023–25), he’s claimed an incredible 299 wickets at 12.59, with 19 five-wicket hauls to his name. For good measure, he’s also contributed 1,422 runs at 18.23, including seven fifties.

Beyond his brilliance on the field, he’s a top-notch coach, a genuinely friendly guy, and a loyal team player. We’re thrilled he’s been a long-term CricX client, and here’s to many more seasons of his magic!

Mehran Sanwal (Penzance – Cornwall Premier League)

46 wickets @ 13.2 (2x5w)

What an incredible story, what a remarkable man, and what a bowler! Hats off to Mehran, who faced unimaginable heartbreak just a week after arriving in the UK, learning of his father’s passing. Despite this devastating loss, he chose to stay and honor his father’s memory by playing on for Penzance, just as his dad would have wanted. And what a season he delivered!

The Pakistani speedster topped Penzance’s wicket charts and ranked among the Premier League’s leading wicket-takers with 33 scalps at an impressive 12.12. His efforts helped propel Penzance to the League title, even after falling short as runners-up to St Just in the Vinter Cup.

But the real magic came in Penzance’s extraordinary run to the National Knock Out Final at Lord’s. Mehran was a linchpin, especially in the quarter-final against Middleton. After a grueling six-hour journey from the South West, he tore through their batting with a sensational 5-26, skittling Middleton for just 69 to secure a comfortable win. His brilliance continued with a second five-wicket haul—5-32 against Redruth in the League—followed by 3-45 in the National Semi-Final the very next day. Mehran capped the league season with a fiery 4-51 in late August, setting the stage for the Lord’s Final on September 20. Though Penzance fell 25 runs short against Ormskirk, Mehran shone bright, claiming the first three wickets (3-46) in a valiant effort.

Given the personal tragedy he endured, Mehran’s season was nothing short of heroic. We can’t wait to see him return in 2026—watch this space for more from this incredible talent!
